Jesús Villasante is head of the Net Innovation Unit of the Communications Networks, Content and Technology (Connect) Directorate General in the European Commission.

He has a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Madrid Polytechnic University and a Masters in Public Management from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Ecole de Commerce Solvay.

Jesus worked for Digital Equipment Corporation where he held positions as systems engineer, project manager for manufacturing industries and software advisor for the sales and business operations. He also worked for Telefónica and for the Computers in Medicine Section of the Air Force Hospital in Madrid.

He joined the European Commission to work on Telematics Applications Programme Analysis and Preparation of Programmes. Prior to his current position, he has been head of the e-Business, Software & Service and Trust and Security Units.
