Description

The session Future Internet boosting Creativity in Europe: scaling platforms, data, tools, services and communities aims at stimulating an engaging discussion on the way Future Internet and all-new, ICT-based platforms can support the further development of stronger and more competitive creative industries. The session is co-organised by the Creative Ring (part of the European project SPECIFI), Visionair and ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs).

The Creative Ring focuses on deploying and interlinking open platforms to engage citizens and SMEs in co-designed creative services. The main focus of the initiative is to boost the Creative Industries sector in Europe. The SPECIFI project is currently in the process of demonstrating the positive impact of a European Creative Ring of Cities and Regions, with a real-life Future Internet (FTTH and wireless) infrastructure and with multiple technology enablers and applications that combine visualization, static data, GIS, real-life sensors, low-latency multi streaming, augmented reality and others.

Visionair calls for the creation of a European infrastructure for high level visualisation facilities that are open to research communities across Europe and around the world.

The European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) is the international federation of benchmarked Living Labs in Europe and worldwide. Founded in November 2006 under the auspices of the Finnish European Presidency, the network today includes 340 accepted Living Labs.

SPECIFI, VISIONAIR and ENoLL have previously collaborated during FIA Dublin and ICT2013 in Vilnius preparing common demonstrations and live-performances.

This session invites other projects already engaged in the Creative Ring discussion such as CitySDK and FI-CONTENT with the objective of further explore the collaboration in the exploitation of results towards the common objective of boosting Creative Industries while connecting cities and regions. This collaboration implies many different challenges and opportunities, many of which were already discussed in previous workshops and discussion. The objective of this pre-FIA session is to further explore technical and business challenges and opportunities as well as to contribute to the Creative Ring whitepaper that will support the Creative Ring manifesto and therefore the official launch of the Creative Ring during Spring 2014.
