Description

5G is the next frontier of innovation for entire mobile industry. The Radio Access Network (RAN) of 5G will have to respond to the increase in traffic volume, by increasing capacity and by improving efficiency in energy, cost and spectrum utilization.  Deployment of these networks will emerge between 2020 and 2030, therefore the next decade promises breakthrough developments in several fundamental RAN technologies that will be required for implementing commercial-ready 5G network solutions.

This workshop will look at technology innovations on the ultra-broadband wireless access being developed by European Commission co-funded research projects that combined will contribute to the capacity improvement and low latency required by the next generation of wireless networks.

In this workshop thirteen EU FP7 research projects will present intermediate results that are in the “ignition phase" of the 5G European initiative in H2020.   The final panel will discuss what are the key RAN technology enablers for reinforcement of European industry in mobile broadband systems.  The workshop is an open event and will be disseminated to attract European and also no-European audience interested to understand the EU framework for 5G and the technical challenges, developments and opportunities in this area.
