The first step of each IPv6 transition project is the development of basic plan for the network infrastructure and the addressing. Also it must made clear, which kind of addresses will be used in which areas of the network – and where to get them. Especially for the government in some European states national activities for a central addressing have to be taken in notice and being integrated in the planning. Fraunhofer FOKUS has developed general guidelines for address planning that are published in the GEN6 project (www.gen6-project.eu). The contributor gives an overview on this framework. With the second contributor from Citkomm as a data centre operator the practical implementation of this guideline will be outlined in the presentation.
