Dr. Omar Aziz Niamut is a senior research scientist at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), working on Future Media Internet technolog, with a focus on shared interactive and immersive media delivery. In 2006, he received his PhD from Delft university of Technology, in the field of universal audio coding. He advised and reported to the European Parliament and the European Commission on the harmonisation of mobile TV. He has over 300 standardization contributions to ETSI TISPAN and advised the Singapore government on the use of IPTV standards. He is editor of a book on format-agnostic media, author of over 25 academic publications in the fields of audio coding, interactive IPTV services and immersive media, holds 15 patents and contributed a chapter to a book on Social TV. He was and is Work Package and TNO teamleader in EU projects, such as FascinatE, STEER and EXPERIMEDIA.
