Simon has been working at SWITCH, the Swiss NREN, since 1996; for the first fifteen years in backbone network engineering, and more recently as a leader of the Peta Solutions team, where he currently explores opportunities in cloud computing for the academic community.
He holds a Dipl.-Inform. (~MSc. in CS) from Technische Universität Berlin, has served on numerous technical program committees, mainly in the network measurement research community, and has been active in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), among others as a co-chair of the Network Configuration (netconf) Working Group, and as the author and co-author of RFCs. He is or was also the representative for Switzerland in the Future Internet Forum of Member and Associated States.
