Dr. Ali Al-Shabibi will give an overview of ON.Lab and it's projects. In particular, he will talk about ONOS (Open Network Operating System) which is a distributed, fault tolerant network operating system. In addition, Dr. Al-Shabibi will talk about OpenVirteX which is a novel network virtualization platform.
Dr. Ali Al-Shabibi is the lead engineer on Network Virtualization at Open Networking Laboratory and maintainer of FlowVisor, a network hypervisor. Previously, he was a post-doc at Stanford University researching OpenFlow and SDNs in Nick McKeown’s group. He received his Ph.D from the University of Heidelberg in Germany in 2011 after performing his doctoral research at CERN (European Centre for Nuclear Research) in the ATLAS (A Toroidal Lhc ApparatuS) Networking group, where he contributed to the design and development of the TDAQ (Trigger and Data Acquisition ) Network. He hold a BSc and MSc degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).
